Local QR recovery and reconstruction

Repair a damaged or low-quality QR code

Recover the exact content from an existing QR image when possible, diagnose measurable problems, then rebuild a clean QR rather than trying to sharpen damaged pixels.

Private by architecture

The original image and recovered payload stay on your device

Image decoding, recovery transforms, diagnosis, QR reconstruction and downloads run locally in this browser. The selected image and decoded content are not uploaded to our server or sent to an external repair service.

Repair a blurry, cropped or damaged QR code

QR Repair is for images that may still contain an exact recoverable payload but are difficult to decode in their current form — for example a blurry image, a tight crop, a low-resolution screenshot or a degraded QR.

The tool first tries a normal decode, then conservative local recovery passes such as extra border space, nearest-neighbour enlargement and black-and-white thresholding.

We do not guess missing QR data

A replacement QR is created only after the original payload has been recovered exactly.

If the payload cannot be decoded, the tool does not invent a URL, infer missing characters or produce an “AI repaired” QR that merely looks plausible. A rebuilt code is decoded again before download.

That makes the result deliberately less magical and considerably more trustworthy.

After rebuilding

A clean rebuilt QR can still fail in a bad print layout. Treat the rebuilt file as the start of the final artwork check, not a guarantee.

  1. Check the rebuilt image.
  2. Choose a sensible physical size.
  3. Preserve a clear quiet zone.
  4. Test the final artwork rather than only the raw QR.

Practical guidance

Rebuilding is safer than cosmetically sharpening a QR

Once the exact payload is recovered, a fresh QR matrix removes image damage without guessing what missing modules used to contain.

01

Recovery must produce exact data

The tool tries the original image first, followed by conservative border, enlargement and contrast-recovery passes. If none yields a real decoded payload, no replacement QR is fabricated.

02

Use the rebuilt file, not a screenshot

The repaired SVG is resolution-independent and the PNG is generated at 2048 px. Keep the four-module quiet zone clear when placing either file into artwork.

03

Still test the physical result

A clean digital reconstruction removes image-level damage, but print size, glare, material, placement and camera distance still matter after printing.
